Disabled People and the Military
In autumn 2000, General Guthrie of the British Army issued a statement strongly implying that disabled people would never be able to serve in the UK army. This prompted a response from Red Disability which has, perhaps not surprisingly, aroused severe controversy - particularly among serving and former military personnel.
Among other things, we have been accused of not representing our target readership. To put this right, we have decided to hold an online poll. When the poll gets a decent amount of votes (100 would be ideal), if there is a clear majority, we will take the majority viewpoint into account and re-edit this site.
For now ... happy voting!
